Certain requirements for enrollment in the Oklahoma schools are set forth by the legislature and recorded in the "Oklahoma School Code." Those requirements are stated below:

A kindergarten child must have attained the age of five years on or before September 1.

• A birth certificate must be presented at the time of enrollment
• A child entering school for the first time or students transferring from one school to another must present a certification form signed by a physician or authorized representative of the State Department of Health that the child is adequately protected agianst diptheria, whooping cough, tetanus, rubeola (7 day hard measles), rubella (3 day German measles), and polio.

Effective July 1, 1990 - children entering school for the first time will be REQUIRED to have received two dose4s of MMR vaccine after their first birthday. These two doses must have been at least one moth apart, and if a school child has not received previous MMR vaccination, he or she will be allowed to enter school after the first dose, with the provision that the child will be given the second dose approximately one month later.
